Okay, yes, I get it- “Why is that answer so aggressive?”Honestly, as a web designer for creative entrepreneurs, I hear this question often. Most of the creative entrepreneurs start out with an Instagram page or Facebook profile, which slowly starts getting them business. It’s all great, I know, but-
Yourbusiness can’t live solely on social media!
While it all seems great and fine, we’ve all experienced the social media outages- you know, like the ones where Instagram breaks down and doesn’t allow us to post for hours on end. If you only run your business on there, how can you expect to keep selling your stuff when it inevitably crashes once again?
You can’t!
You need a hub for people to access your business that won’t be affected when Instagram isn’t letting you post or when Facebook isn’t letting you engage.Still don’t know if you need a website? I’ve put together a convenient Pro and Con list!
Pro
Gives you a place to serve as a hub and host all of your content (a blog, online shop, services, etc.).
Show off your creativity in a unique way with a custom website that is branded to match your business.
Let’s you go into more detail about who you are, what you do, and how people can work with/buy from you without post character limits.
Feels and looks more professional to share your website when you’re networking with other awesome creatives (rather than sharing your Instagram handle or Facebook profile link).
Con
Not free like social media.
Can take time to build a website or a lot of $$$ to hire a professional.
A lot more writing.
I don’t know about you but, for me, the pros far outweigh the cons.
